Forgetting a password is common. The safest approach is usually to reset the password for the account you already have instead of creating another account.
Start with the official sign-in page
Open the company’s official app or type its website address directly. Avoid password-reset links sent in unexpected texts or emails.
Select “Forgot password?”
Most services will send a verification code or reset link to the email address or phone number connected to the account.
Check where the code was sent
- Look in your email inbox and spam folder.
- Check your text messages.
- Confirm that the email address or phone number shown on screen belongs to you.
Create a new password
Use a long password or passphrase that is difficult to guess. Do not reuse the same password across important accounts.
Save it safely
A password manager can store passwords securely. Built-in options such as Apple Passwords, Google Password Manager, and Microsoft Edge password storage may be easier than keeping loose notes.
If you no longer have access to the recovery email or phone number, use the official account-recovery process. Do not pay someone who contacts you unexpectedly and promises to recover the account.
