How to Make Text Larger on an iPhone or iPad

Increase text size, use bold text, and turn on Display Zoom so your iPhone or iPad is easier to read.

Small text can make an otherwise useful device frustrating. Apple includes several settings that can make words, buttons, and other items easier to see.

Increase the text size

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Select Display & Brightness.
  3. Select Text Size.
  4. Move the slider until the text feels comfortable.

Make text even larger

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Select Accessibility.
  3. Select Display & Text Size.
  4. Select Larger Text.
  5. Turn on Larger Accessibility Sizes, then adjust the slider.

Other settings that may help

  • Bold Text makes letters thicker.
  • Increase Contrast makes some buttons and controls easier to distinguish.
  • Display Zoom enlarges icons, controls, and text throughout the device.

Settings can look slightly different depending on your iPhone or iPad model. A comfortable setting is the right setting. You do not need to use the default size.
